A movie that was fiercely opposed by establishment media and other abortion supporters — to the point people were told not to go see it — is building on its theatrical success by becoming the No. 1 New Drama on Amazon.

It’s also in the Top 10 overall, weeks before its DVD and streaming release date.

The Daily Wire reports “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer,” which was one of the most controversial movies last year, “has made history with record-breaking DVD pre-sales on Amazon – topping the best-seller list and overtaking big studio backed films.”

The movie recounts the arrest, trial and eventual conviction on murder charges of “notorious abortion butcher Kermit Gosnell.”

He’s now serving prison time for three counts of murder for the deaths of three babies who were born alive during abortions then killed.

“There is an enormous appetite for this kind of film that tells the truth,” said producer Phelim McAleer. “People are fed up with being fed movies that attack their values and misrepresent the world. There is a real hunger for Gosnell and our record breaking sales prove this.”

In theaters, it opened with a Top 10 performance on revenue of $1.2 million on just 668 screens.

But as the film entered its second week, the Daily Wire said, “the film was inexplicably dropped from nearly 200 theaters, including those in major cities where it was performing the strongest.”

Its ads were blocked by NPR, the New York Times and Facebook.

Audiences raved, however.

It scored a 98 percent positive rating from movie fans on

Its popularity among audiences is in sharp contrast to establishment-media critics who have mostly refused to review it. Despite being made available to all critics, the film was reviewed by only two major publications, the Los Angeles Times and

The film’s success sends a message to mainstream media, McAleer said: “Your attempt to blacklist this film didn’t work. The people have spoken. The cover-up stops now.”

Its impact cannot be denied.

A college student who gained a large social-media following in 2016 when she switched from being a supporter of Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump made another switch after seeing the movie.

Kathy Zhu, who attends the University of Central Florida and has close to 50,000 Twitter followers, says she’s suddenly pro-life, after watching the movie documenting the serial killings by Gosnell.

“Yesterday, I was pro-choice. I believed that women should have a say & the gov shouldn’t be interfering w/ our lives,” Zhu wrote.

“Today, I’m pro-life. After watching #Gosnell & doing in-depth research, I finally understand the horrors of loopholes in late term abortions. Pls go watch Gosnell.”
